After only 2 weeks at his new home, Paolo Bettini, our new kitten, is fitting into our family nicely. His namesake, Il Grillo, repeats as the World Champion in road racing. Life is good!

7 seconds

This is what a professional cycling race looks like from the side of the road. It takes about 7 seconds from the head of the peloton to the following cars, and thats on a pretty steep hill. Blink and you've missed a good piece of it. Needless to say, the Tour of California was a blast - Em, Jeff, Shanyn, Lola and I had a great day out.

That is what Matt told me when we spoke after I found his Otis Guy "Beam" bike for sale on Craig's List. He didn't want to sell it, but his wife wanted more garage space. Matt is a tall fella, taller than me and by his own admission, its all leg. Me, as soon as I saw and rode the bike, I loved it, and that love blinded me from the fact that this bike was HUGE, and too big for me. Matt was kind enough to let me borrow it, knowing it was too big, probably knowing I'd be back. During the few days that I had it, Dave helped Arlo try it on for size. Arlo is tall, but might need a few years to grow into it.
